Our History
Co-operatives have a long history of serving members in Western Canada. In the early 20th century, people worked together to create retail co-operatives in many towns in the four western Canadian provinces (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia).
At Prairie Sky Co-op, we pride ourselves on our customer service. When you visit, we strive to make you to feel like “You’re at home here.”
1929 - 2014: Weyburn Co-op
On June 26, 1929, J.S. McGowan, E.M. Robins, J.E. Powers, J.N. Rinehart and D.F. Coleman signed the first Weyburn Co-operatives Association Limited “Memorandum of Association,” receiving capital stock of 100 shares of $50.00 each. After 85 years, the Weyburn Cooperative Limited had it's last annual meeting. All members were very excited for the future of the Co-op with the amalgamation of Weyburn and Beaubier Cooperatives and the renaming of the co-operative to Prairie Sky Co-op.
1932- 2014: Beaubier Co-op
After a 6 year management agreement with the Weyburn Co-op; Beaubier Co-op members vote to amalgamate with the Weyburn Co-op to form Prairie Sky Co-op. The future is very bright for all.
2014: Prairie Sky Co-op Established
Prairie Sky Co-op begins it's exciting venture into the future with over 10,000 members. In February of 2014, Beaubier Co-op amalgamated with Weyburn Co-op to form Prairie Sky Co-op. The amalgamation gives Co-op members from both communities a wider array of products and the opportunity to earn equity and cash back at all Prairie Sky locations.
1915 - 2017: Milestone Co-op
In 2017, the two Milestone Co-op locations became part of Prairie Sky Co-op in an amalgamation.
1919 - 2018: Cross Country Co-op
Based out of Lang, Cross Country Co-op amalgamated with Prairie Sky Co-op in 2018.
