Real-Time Credit Limit Checks at Co-op Cardlocks

What’s Changing?
This winter, CRS is introducing real-time credit checks at every Co-op Cardlock site in the CRS network. Local Co-op’s and FCL cardlock accounts will now undergo an instant credit-limit verification before a transaction starts and during fueling. Once your credit limit is reached, the pump will either refuse to start or stop dispensing fuel mid-transaction.

Why We’re Doing This
Co-op Cardlocks (systemwide) operate 24/7 without on-site staff to verify credit. Introducing automatic checks helps prevent excessive credit exposure and reduces the risk of fraud by confirming available credit in real time.

What You’ll See at the Pump
When you hit or exceed your credit limit, the card reader will display: Credit Limit Reached
At that point, the transaction will not begin, or it will be interrupted if you’re already fueling.

How Your Credit Limit Works
There is one single credit limit for all Co-op purchases. Every charge—whether it’s at a cardlock site, bulk fuel, home centre, farm supply or any other Prairie Sky Co-op location—draws from the same account limit. Purchases in other departments affect the balance available for fueling.

What You Need to Do
1. Review your current credit limit on your latest statement.
2. If your limit doesn’t cover your usage, complete the credit-increase application in full. (see application below)
3. Submit your application to our Credit Department by no later than December 12, 2025:
• Email: credit@prairiesky.crs
• In person: Administrative office located at the Weyburn Food Store
• Mail: Prairie Sky Co-op, Credit Department, 215 – 2nd St NE, Weyburn, SK S4H 0V1 (when Canada Post is operating again)

Important Reminders
• New limits will reflect realistic usage. They won’t be set high without justification.
• We do not intend to conduct credit score checks
• If you need guidance on your credit request or budget concerns, contact our Credit Manager at 306-848-3662 or e-mail .Mariska.VL@prairiesky.crs.
• If you opt not to apply for an increase, your limit stays the same and you risk interruptions at the pump when it’s reached.
• Payments take up to three business days to post on your account. Today’s payment won’t immediately restore available credit.
